As Los Cabos became popular, the more potential it showed to investors. In 1974 the Federal Government through Fonatur (Fondo Nacíonal de Turismo) began creating the infrastructure that turned the area into one of the more beautiful planned tourist centers of the country. Today, Los Cabos are the favorite Mexican beach destinations for the international tourist, offering more than 3,700 hotel rooms in all categories.
From Cabo San Lucas harbor, a glass bottom boat can take you to the popular landmark El Arco (The Arch), a rock formation at the top of the penisula. Seals, sea lions and pelicans enjoy basking in the sun on El Arco.
